Hi, I’m Jeff Wright — the researcher, writer, and storyteller behind Odyssey: The Podcast, a serialized, contemporary-language retelling of the epic story Homer tells in The Odyssey.
Before We Get Started…
Odyssey: The Podcast tells a complete, free-standing story. You can jump straight into Episode One and have a great time.
But it’s also the sequel to my companion project, Trojan War: The Podcast.
Put simply:
-
Trojan War: The Podcast is the story of a war.
-
Odyssey: The Podcast is the story of a man trying—against overwhelming odds—to get home after that war.
Start wherever you like. Either way, you’re in for hours of epic storytelling, big characters, and pure entertainment.
How This Podcast Works
This is one very big story, broken into portable, bingeable episodes.
Each episode delivers:
-
~60 minutes of continuing story
-
~20 minutes of Post-Story Commentary
Stick around for the Commentaries—they’re where I geek out on cultural context, alternate versions of the myths, and all sorts of Greek-epic trivia.
And do listen in sequence: this epic unfolds as a single continuous tale.
A Bit About Me
I’ve spent years performing these stories live. So even when I’m recording alone, I imagine myself onstage, telling the tale to a real audience.
As a result, I don’t read from a script—I tell the story.
My hope is that you hear the same energy, intimacy, and immediacy you’d get from a live performance.
